Privacy Policy
OtterRing Web Tools is a free collection of everyday calculators. We do not currently collect personal data, require accounts, or use advertising cookies. This policy explains how we handle your information now, and how we will notify you if that changes. We comply with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and, where applicable, international data protection standards.
01 Who We Are
OtterRing Web Tools (“OtterRing”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website accessible at this domain. We are based in Singapore and are subject to the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and its associated regulations and advisory guidelines issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).
By using our website, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue your use of the website.
02 What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors and users of the OtterRing Web Tools website. It describes:
- What personal data we collect, or may in future collect, and why
- How we store, use, and protect that data
- Your rights in relation to your personal data
- How to contact us or the relevant regulatory authority
This policy covers both our current practices (where no personal accounts or advertising cookies are used) and anticipates potential future features such as user accounts via Google Sign-In and the use of cookies for analytics or preference storage.
03 Data We Collect
Currently collected (all visitors)
- Server and access logs. When you visit the website, our hosting provider (Hostinger) automatically records your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. This is standard for all web hosting and is retained for security and diagnostic purposes.
- Input data entered into tools. Dates, ages, and other values you enter into our calculator tools are processed entirely in your browser and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Data we may collect in the future (if features are introduced)
- Account information. If we introduce user accounts (for example via Google Sign-In), we may collect your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique identifier provided by Google.
- Preferences and settings. If we introduce saved preferences (such as default date formats or favourite tools), we may store these against your account or in a browser cookie.
- Analytics data. If we introduce analytics services, we may collect aggregated, anonymised information about how visitors interact with the site, including page views, session duration, and device type.
- Communications. If you contact us by email or a contact form, we will retain the content of your message and your email address in order to respond to you.
04 How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect only for the following purposes, consistent with the PDPA’s purpose limitation obligation:
- Service delivery. To operate and maintain the website and its tools.
- Security and abuse prevention. To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or malicious activity, including via server log analysis.
- Service improvement. To understand how the website is used and to improve its performance, accuracy, and usability.
- Communications. To respond to enquiries or feedback you send us directly.
- Legal compliance. To comply with applicable Singapore laws and regulations, including the PDPA, and to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
We will not use your personal data for any purpose materially different from those listed above without first obtaining your consent or providing adequate notice, as required by the PDPA.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
05 Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Current position: OtterRing Web Tools does not currently use cookies, pixel trackers, or any equivalent tracking technology on this website.
Future use: We may in future introduce the following categories of cookies. Should we do so, we will implement a cookie consent mechanism in accordance with the PDPA and PDPC guidelines before any non-essential cookies are set.
- Strictly necessary cookies. Required for the website to function. These do not require consent and may include session management or security tokens.
- Functional cookies. Used to remember your preferences, such as a preferred time format or last-used tool. These will require your consent before being set.
- Analytics cookies. Used to collect anonymised statistics about site usage (for example, via Google Analytics). These will require your consent before being set.
- Authentication cookies. If user accounts are introduced, these will be used to keep you logged in securely across sessions. These would be strictly necessary once you choose to create an account.
You may at any time manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block all cookies, accept only certain types, or delete stored cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may impair the functionality of the website.
06 Google Services
Current position: We currently use Google Fonts (a free font delivery service) to load the DM Serif Display and DM Sans typefaces used on this website. When your browser loads a page on OtterRing, it makes a request to Google’s servers to retrieve these fonts. This request may include your IP address and browser type. This is a standard practice used by millions of websites. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
Future use — Google Sign-In: We may in future offer Google Sign-In as an optional way to create a user account. If and when this feature is introduced:
- You will be clearly informed before any Google account connection takes place.
- We will only request the minimum necessary permissions (typically your name, email address, and profile picture).
- Google’s own privacy policy will govern how Google processes your data during the authentication process.
- You will be able to revoke OtterRing’s access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account settings.
- We will not access your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or any other Google service data.
Future use — Google Analytics: We may in future use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our tools. If introduced, Analytics will be configured with IP anonymisation enabled and will operate only with your explicit consent where required. You may opt out at any time via a cookie preferences panel or the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
07 Third-Party Services
The following third-party services are currently involved in the operation of this website. Each has its own privacy policy which governs how they process data.
- Hostinger (web hosting) — processes server access logs on our behalf. Hostinger Privacy Policy
- Google Fonts — delivers web fonts. Google Privacy Policy
We will update this section whenever new third-party services are introduced. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any third parties we engage are themselves compliant with applicable data protection laws.
08 Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, in accordance with the PDPA’s retention limitation obligation:
- Server access logs are retained for up to 90 days by our hosting provider for security and diagnostic purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
- Contact enquiries sent to us are retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to address your enquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter, generally no longer than two years.
- Account data (if accounts are introduced) will be retained for as long as your account remains active. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
When personal data is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to ensure it is deleted or anonymised in a secure manner.
09 Your Rights Under the PDPA
Under the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012, you have the following rights in respect of your personal data held by us:
- Right of access. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and information about how it is being used.
- Right of correction. You may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you.
- Right to withdraw consent. Where our use of your personal data is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before the withdrawal.
- Right to data portability. Under the PDPA’s data portability obligation (applicable to prescribed organisations), you may request that we transmit your personal data to another organisation in a commonly used machine-readable format, where technically feasible.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days or as required by the PDPA. In some circumstances we may need to verify your identity before processing a request.
We will not charge a fee for access or correction requests unless they are manifestly unfounded or excessive, in which case we will inform you of any applicable fee before proceeding.
10 Data Security
We take the security of personal data seriously and implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, in accordance with the PDPA’s protection obligation. These measures include:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our website
- Access controls restricting administrative access to authorised personnel only
- Periodic review of data handling practices and security configurations
However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in significant harm to affected individuals, we will notify the PDPC and affected individuals in accordance with the PDPA’s mandatory data breach notification obligation.
11 Children
OtterRing Web Tools is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data to us, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such data promptly.
Users between the ages of 13 and 18 should obtain their parent or guardian’s consent before submitting any personal data to us.
12 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes we will:
- Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page
- Display a prominent notice on the website for a reasonable period
- If you have an account, notify you via email (where applicable)
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the website after any changes have been posted constitutes your acknowledgement of those changes.
For significant changes that affect how we handle personal data already collected (for example, a new purpose for which we use your data), we will seek your consent where required by the PDPA before the change takes effect.
